Kayenga is a pretty calm Blackback, although he likes to play with the other Blackbacks in the family. It is easy to get close to him, because he is habituated and likes playing jokes. He often pulls grimaces and funny expressions; he also likes showing us his teeth – and as many Blackbacks like to do he likes to play in the trees.
Kayenga is very kind and for example he took Maheshe under his wing when his mother, Furaha, died. She fell on a rock and was killed on impact. We buried her at Rumangabo.
Jeshi and Kayenga
Kayenga means “born on Sunday” in Kinandais, a local language here in DRC.
